What Are Binaural Beats Exactly and How They Work
Binaural beats are created when the brain is presented with two different sound frequencies at the same time through the left and right ear.
What happens when these two frequencies are received through the right and left ear is that the brain creates an imaginary tone whose frequency is equal to the difference in the frequency between the two sounds being received.
So if you listen to a sound frequency of, say, 528Hz in your right ear, and another sound frequency of 524Hz in your left ear, your brain will create an imaginary tone (or binaural beat) of 4Hz to make up the difference between the left and right frequencies.
The frequency of the binaural beat is always equal to the difference in frequency between the two sounds being received through the left and right ear.
Wait… Uh Hz?
That’s just the unit measurement for frequency, named after a really smart German scientist for his work and research. Energy waves all have frequencies, and in the case of sound waves, higher frequencies are associated with higher-pitched sounds.
So the next time your neighbor screeches so high you want to scratch your ears out, you can tell them to lower their frequency. And then enjoy the moment of cluelessness that usually clouds their faces.
Frequencies are also the reason why certain high-pitched singers (like opera singers) are able to break glasses with nothing but their voices.
This happens because EVERYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE vibrates at its own unique frequency – even you! And also beyond energy, frequencies are a measurement of the level of vibration within an object.
When incoming sound vibrates at a frequency that is greater than the natural vibration of glass, it influences the glass to vibrate at a rate greater than it can handle—and the glass breaks!
What’s Up with Binaural Beats?
Ok, great, enough with the sciencey stuff; why are these binaural beats important? Are they simply some new age fad? And why do I love using them in my program?
Although modern science was finally able to produce binaural beats only about 100 years or so, the use of sound as a natural therapy for altering mind state goes back thousands of years.
Many ancient tribes were aware of how the brain could be entrained through sound repetition, long before modern science could prove the process.
The Greeks, Native Americans, and Egyptians, just to name a few cultures, used rhythmic sounds like beating drums during religious rituals to alter the mind states of participants in order to ease meditation.
So Brainwave Entrainment has been in use since the earliest civilizations.
However, it was not until 180 years ago that science finally caught up to this wonderful phenomenon of sound, first with the discovery of binaural beats in 1839 and then much later with the discovery of Isochronic tones in 1999.
So, this is not some new age fad but a natural process which has been in use for quite some time.
To see why binaural beats are beneficial and why I insist on using them in my sessions, you have to understand how brain waves work and are influenced by them.
As the neurons in your brain fire off and exchange information, they produce tiny amounts of electricity at a frequency known as brainwaves.
The higher your brainwave frequency, the more alert, awake, and reactive you feel. While lower brainwaves are associated with rest and sleep.
Now, when your brain creates that imaginary beat known as binaural beats, your brainwaves sync up to that specific frequency.
For example, if you listen to 410 Hz in one ear and 400hz in the other, your brain will start to resonate with the 10hz binaural beat. Your brainwaves will be at a frequency of 10 Hz.
You Can Literally, Naturally, and Easily Change The Way You Feel By Listening to Binaural Beats
.
It seems almost too easy that listening to audios could alter the state of mind in such a powerful and life-changing way. However, once you learn how the brain works and how binaural beats affect the brain, you will understand that this is a natural and easy process. It is requiring little input on your part.
Do you want to feel more alert? Listen to higher binaural tones.
You want to feel calmer or enjoy better sleep? Listen to lower binaural beats.

There are 5 types of binaural frequency types or patterns, each of which is capable of different benefits:
Quick Overview of The Brain Waves
- Delta: Delta patterns are set to a frequency ranging from 0.1 to 4Hz, and are associated with benefits such as deep sleep, pain relief, healing, access to the subconscious, and anti-aging (cortisol reduction and increase in DHEA).
- Theta: Binaural beats ranging from 4-8Hz, and are associated with rapid eye movement (REM) phase of sleep, meditation, creativity, deep relaxation and inner peace.
- Alpha: These patterns ranging from 8-14Hz, and give rise to benefits which include stress reduction, positive thinking, accelerated learning, relaxation, and flow state (a state where you effortlessly engage in activities and with your environment).
- Beta: ranging between 14-30Hz, and are associated with benefits such as easing analytical thinking, promoting concentration and awareness, and increased energy and spurring into action.
- Gamma: Formed by binaural sounds ranging from 30-100Hz, gamma patterns are associated with improved memory recall, peak awareness, cognitive enhancement, high-level information processing, and transcendental states.
The Benefits of Binaural Beats
As you can likely guess by now, people listen to binaural beats for a wide range of reasons. Some of these include:
- Reduced stress
- Reduced anxiety
- Increased focus
- Deeper meditation
- Increased concentration
- Improved psychomotor performance and mood
- Increased motivation
- Boost confidence
Binaural beat technology has moved from the fringes of popular thought to the very cutting edge of health and wellness as well as self-development fields.
The best part about using it is that is completely natural with no observed side-effects to prolonged usage.
We are already constantly listening to sounds as we go about our day; binaural beat therapy is simply a way to harness these sounds to great advantage.
And that is one of the reasons why I employ them in my tracks. The binaural beats make your mind more fertile for all the life transformation messages on the recordings. This increases overall efficiency!
Not every track out there does this, trust me. Consider these beats as my gift to you for choosing to embark on your self-development journey.
In many of the mp3s, I use the Solfeggio scale and Schumann resonance. These have been scientifically proven to bring about healing and regeneration.
These frequencies are said to have been used in ancient sacred music and Gregorian chant . These affect many benefits of healing and regeneration, including DNA repair.
What does this mean for you?
Not only will you be experiencing a paradigm shift. But you will also experience physical healing as you listen to my tapes.
You can go about your day and still get the healing you need. And that without much effort and in only 15-30 minutes daily!
No need to change your daily schedule.
Binaural Beats Best Practices
Binaural beats are best listened to with cover-quality headphones that block out outside noises. You can listen to them before sleep, when you just wake up, or during your quiet time during the day.
DO NOT LISTEN TO BINAURAL BEATS WITH HEADPHONES IN THESE CASES:
Binaural beats are ordinarily completely safe. But as with any sort of therapy, you should seek out the opinion of your medical practitioner before indulging. You should not listen to binaural beats if you:
- Suffer from epilepsy or similar attacks
- Have a well-known mental disorder
- Are pregnant
- Have a pacemaker
- Are highly sensitive to light
- In the next 30 minutes you are scheduled to operate machines. That includes cars or any activity that requires attention or that could put you or others at risk.
And there you have it! Everything you wanted to know about binaural beats and why I incorporate them in my subliminal tapes. I consider them the gift that keeps on giving.
